Caribou Cafe - 11th and Walnut
Oeufs benedicte w/ merguez lamb sausage
This benny right here was an absolute hit. Garlic muffins, spinach, tomato hollandaise and merguez lamb sausage. The lamb sausage was out of this world, spiced to perfection. Potatoes were also fantastic, tasted like they came off a grille. The Caribou is a nice place, a little swank for your typical hungover weekend brunch, and the price reflects. If I had to say something negative about this benny (which I do) it would be about the meat/egg distribution. As you'll notice in the photo, one muffin was topped with the sausage, the other with an egg. First time I've seen this approach. I'd prefer sausage and egg on BOTH of my muffins please. This benny was too good to be shorted an egg! - Juan

Oeufs benedicte w/ hangar steak
Not much of a difference here, other than the meat. I do recall my eggs being slightly overdone, which can make or break a benny. I had a taste of Juan's lamb sausage benny and I must say that if I ever returned to the Caribou Cafe, I'd go with that instead of the hangar steak. Presented in the same fashion, the hangar steak benny was pretty decent. The steak itself came out medium-medium well, which is usually how I order my steak. Caribou also offers a salmon benny which unfortunately wasn't reviewed. C. Hunte could have completed the trifecta, but his weak stomach isn't cut out for the world of benny reviewing. Poor guy.
